Calistoga Junior Senior High School Athletics Department

Philosophy of Student Athletics

The philosophy of the Calistoga Joint Unified School District is that interscholastic athletics are an integral part of the educational program, designed to have a positive influence on students. Our athletic program supports student participation in multiple sports and promotes equal opportunities and experiences for all students. In addition to developing athletic skills, we are responsible for instilling in our athletes proper attitudes and behaviors that reflect the values of citizenship, sportsmanship, and cooperation, as well as fostering self-discipline and self-esteem. This can only be accomplished by well-organized, goal-oriented programs conducted by competent adult leaders. CJUSD recognizes that an effective interscholastic athletic program is the result of responsible cooperation among its four key components: the student-athlete, the coaching staff, the parent, and the site/district administration.

High School Athletics

As expressed in our motto, “Home of Scholars and Champions,” sports have always been an important factor in shaping our identity at Calistoga Junior Senior High School.  Generations of Calistoga alumni attend our athletic events to celebrate wins, remember past rivalries and cheer us on.  Our gym is decorated with championship pennants from our school sports.  Beyond our league events, our teams have earned awards such as scholar athletes and North Coast Section championships.  Athletics are a source of pride at CJSHS.
