CAASPP

The California Assessment of Student Performance & Progress (CAASPP

“The CAASPP results give us a key measure of how well students are mastering California's challenging academic standards in English language arts/literacy and mathematics. The skills called for by these standards—the ability to write clearly, think critically, and solve problems—are critical to success in college and 21st-century careers.”
— Tom Torlakson, State Superintendent of Public Instruction

CAASPP English Language Arts & Math
CJSHS students in grades 7, 8 and 11 take the English Language Arts (ELA) and Math CAASPP summative assessments in April and May of 2019. Students will take the ELA CAASPP in their grade level English class. Students in 7th and 8th grades will take the Math CAASPP in their grade level Math class. Students in the 11th grade will take the Math CAASPP in their U.S. History class. Each exam consists of two portions: a computer adaptive test and a performance task. Students are given ample time in class to complete their assessments. If needed, students can complete their assessments during the make up testing window (two weeks in May).

There are a variety of online testing tools that are available to all students who take the CAASPP. Additional testing accommodations can be made for students whose need is documented in an IEP or 504 plan.

A letter will be sent home as well as an all-call so that families are informed of the date(s) their student will be CAASPP testing.
